We feel it is important to stay in touch with families for a least a year after a loss. One way we support our families after the funeral is with the “Continuing Care Series” of four booklets which are mailed out over the first year when appropriate. These books are designed to speak to the issues most families are facing at that time. The titles include:
- Will I survive this pain? which explains the grief process and how it affects us.
- The reality of grief, which deals with acknowledging the death and coping with the feelings that this brings.
- The dimensions of grief, discusses how grief affects the relationships within a family and explores how anger plays a part in the grief reaction.
- The journey of grief, explains the ongoing ways that grief is likely to affect you and talks about the anniversary of the loss.
Each December we invite the families we have served over the past year (the community is welcome also) to attend a “Candle Lighting Service of Remembrance”. It is a time to reflect upon and honor the memory of our lost loved one, a time of coming together, hearing words of comfort and growing stronger through the shared experience. A Christmas ornament is provided and personalized for you to take home as a way to pay tribute and remember--- throughout the holiday season.
