Richard Horner Toncray of Duck Lake,
Passed away June 11, 2012 at the age of 87. He was born in Lansing, June 3, 1925, the son of Richard G. and Norma (Horner) Toncray. Richard served in the US Army Signal Corp. during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. When he came home from the Army he joined the Horner Woolen Mills Company as the assistant treasurer. When the original mill ceased operations, he served as president of the newly formed Horner Woolen Company until it closed. Richard was a former director of the Eaton Rapids National Bank, now known as PNC Bank. He was a former treasurer of the Eaton Rapids school board and the first president of the Eaton Rapids Improvement Association now known as the Chamber of Commerce. He was also a former member of the Lions Club. Richard was a 61 year member of the Masonic Blue Lodge in Springport and the Scottish Rite Shrine of Grand Rapids. He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, member of the Duck Lake Country Club and the Platinum Point Yacht Club in Punta Gorda, FL.
Richard is survived by his wife, Phyllis J.(O’Mara) Toncray of Duck Lake; daughter, Terry Toncray (Charles) Becker of FL; son, Richard Edward (Pamela) Toncray of Olivet; grandchildren, Richard Robert (Lisa) Toncray, Lissa Toncray (Chad) Marsolek, Brian C. (Amber) Becker, Erica Lee Becker; great-grandchildren, Richard Ryan and Alaina Toncray, Hayden and Anna Becker, Cole, Kinsey and Kenna Marsolek, Elise Reaves; niece, Lauri O’Mara-Lahr; cousins, Dr’s. Jean (Wallace) Tourtellotte, Peggy Lou Kizzia. His parents preceded him in death along with his grandparents, Edward E. and Cora G. Horner.
Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday June 16, 2012 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids with Pastor Daniel Hofmann officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3-5 pm.
